The BCP is delighted to announce a brand new production team for its 2018 production of ‘The Wiz’!

Directing the show will be Richard Lloyd, Musical Director will be Marie Collins and Ted Oxley-Kirk will be choreographing the dance routines.
The BCP committee is THRILLED and very excited to have assembled a production team with such a professional pedigree and we know that they’ll leave no stone unturned to make ‘The Wiz’ a tremendous success.
We’re also pleased to confirm that AUDITIONS will take place on Sunday 21st January 2018 so put that date in your diary.
There’ll be more later in the day about auditions and how to register your interest in being part of the cast for ‘The Wiz’.
Below is a brief bio on each of our Production Team members.

Richard trained as an actor at Guildford School of Acting receiving a first class hons degree in acting and the school’s acting prize. He has acted in many TV shows and adverts including; – Band of Gold, A wing and a prayer, Cold enough for snow (Film), Emmerdale and a Touch of Frost. Adverts include: – Paddy Power, C&A, On Digital, HSBC and Benefit Fraud. On stage Richard has performed in professional pantomimes in Colchester and Guildford. Musical and play work includes: – Lucky Eric in Bouncers, Tevye in Fiddler on the Roof, Gomez in The Addams Family, Arthur in Spamalot, Max in The Producers, Elbow in Measure for Measure and Pseudolus in A funny thing happened on the way to the Forum. Directing roles have included: – We will rock you, Bouncers, Four Knights in Knaresborough, DNA, Bed, 13 the musical, Pippin and Seussical the musical to name just a few.
Richard works as a professional actor, has his own theatre school – Lloyd Theatre Arts, in Bingley – and teaches Drama at Beckfoot School. He is looking forward to producing Mark Wheeller’s new play ‘I love you Mum…I promise I won’t die!’ at the Edinburgh fringe festival next Aug.

MARIE COLLINS [Musical Director]

Marie studied acting at Bristol Old Vic Theatre School. As a performer her acting credits include: Salad Days (Bristol Old Vic Theatre), Girls Night (2005 & 2007 National Tour), The Songs of Tim Rice (Henley Festival), Chess In Concert (Royal Albert Hall), Just Like Anthea (UK Tour). Other theatre highlights include Eva Peron – Evita, Mrs Lovett – Sweeney Todd, Calendar Girls and The Lady Of The Lake – Spamalot.
Marie’s Musical Director credits include Sweet Charity, Jesus Christ Superstar, Fiddler On The Roof, Oliver, Oklahoma, La Cage Aux Folles, The Producers and Betty Blue Eyes. She is a professional singing teacher and runs The VivaVox Choir along with her husband David.

TED OXLEY-KIRK [Choreographer]

Ted is an award winning choreographer and before his professional training he performed in many shows across the north of England in shows such as Godspell, A Chorus Line, Barnum, Mack and Mabel, Fame, Kiss Me Kate, Oliver, West Side Story, Calamity Jane, Carousel, Sweet Charity, South Pacific, Guys And Dolls, Rock Nativity, Evita, various pantomimes, Peter Pan, The Wiz and Scrooge to name just a few.
Choreographer credits- High Society, La Cage Aux Folles (Best Choreographer Award: Wharfedale festival), Me and My Girl ( Best Choreographer Award: Wharfedale festival), Crazy For You, Nunsense, Bugsy Malone, Footloose, wizard Of Oz, Betty Blue Eyes and Stepping Out. This summer Ted was privileged to be asked to choreograph Kiss Me Kate at the Minack theatre in Cornwall, working alongside many professional choreographers from the West End.
His future projects include A chorus Line, Sweet Charity and Full Monty.
Ted is the resident tutor at LTA, lecturing in Musical theatre alongside its principal Richard Lloyd in all aspects of dance and performance skills.

Workshop and Auditions for ‘The Wiz’ will be held on SUNDAY 21st JANUARY 2018 (venue to be confirmed).

We’ll begin with a general WORKSHOP for everyone who wants to be involved in the show (ensemble, dancers, principal hopefuls too) which will give everyone a chance to meet the production team and have some fun. After this there’ll be a DANCE AUDITION with Ted Oxley-Kirk.

After a break for lunch, the PRINCIPAL AUDITIONS will get underway. These will feature a mixture of solo auditions and group-work as we try out different combinations of people so allow a couple of hours for this please.


‘The Wiz’ will be presented in The Theatre @ Beckfoot School, Bingley during the week commencing Monday 22nd October 2018.

Monday 22nd will be a Tech Rehearsal, Tuesday 23rd will be a full dress rehearsal.

There will be shows at 7:15 on Wednesday, Thursday,¬†Friday and there’s be two shows on Saturday (times to be confirmed)
